Posts from Google, today, are not only "making it" multiple times, they
are also not linked to their original threads. So it's just one big
pile of messages today. Makes the newsgroup entirely unusable.
Unfortunately people do not even notice this if they are using Google
Groups as their only interface. They just make it a terrible experience
for other people, and then they complain that they have no other
options.
Now it is my turn to chide you for not using "proper" UseNet resources!
Well, I didn't mean to "chide" ayone, except Google of course. Sorry if I
was perhaps being a bit annoyed.
My news reader (Forte Agent) has no problem threading all those multiple
copies of posts. All the copies are there, but neatly organized in the
correct thread.
Your Agent must be doing funny to keep the posts under one thread, like
depending on subject lines instead of the References: line in the headers
of each message - like it should. What happens in Forte Agent if someone
would start a new thread that has the same title as an older one? They
should appear as seperate.
I know that Firefox does something similar with subject lines but there,
at least, you can switch that behaviour off.
I was teasing, of course, about the chiding. And, as you can see by
examining my headers, I am using Forte Agent ver 1.92 (c) 2002. Forte
is now selling ver 4,2 so I guess it is time to upgrade!
Maybe I should switch from WordStar, too. It is getting increasingly
difficult to find 8 inch floppy disks for my CP/M system.
