If the theory is that the schools are given tax dollars so that the
students going through them come out educated, then the tax payers
should demand a refund for inferior products.
No, if that (inferior products) is the case then the tax payers should
get involved in the school system to see to it that their money is
spent in a better way.
If I go to the Walmart and buy a Sony Television, and it turns out to be
defective, i do not volunteer to help the Walmart deliver a better TV or
Sony build a better TV. I demand a refund.
Walmart and Sony, if I'm informed correctly, are commercial companies.
Not public institutions (collective property of the people).
True, which is why I'm more likely to get a refund if I get a defectie
product. Since they can lose customers, they work to not do so.
Schools get paid whether or not they lose customers.
Sitting in a school is not necessarily the same thing as being
educated.
Surely, not all public schools are as bad as you seem to suggest. Not
even in the USA.
A country where almost half of graduates are creationists ... I'd have
to investigate a school thoroughly before I'd give it the benefit of the
doubt.
Or you would have to do your best to make sure the school does not fall
into the hand of creationists. Civil duty, and such.
Not able to do everything, I'll just make sure my kids don't fall into
the hands of creationists. I'll consider my civic duty fulfilled
then.
