Sometimes all that is needed is 16-hydroxy-7-hexadecenoic acid,
omicron-lactone (musk) and ethyl alcohol.
Seriously, that is the big question. Each competing theory of
abiogenesis has it's own requirements, and no one has the full
solution yet. At a minimum, amino acids and nucleic acids are required
at some point in the process.
