Reading through this entire thread, it's very disappointing to see
people who have outright hostility for either science or religion. My
training is in microbiology, and I (along with several others I know in
the field), have no problem with accepting both religion (Christianity
in my case, as well as my colleagues) and science.
Stephen Hawking, obviously someone you all know, believes in God. And
it was Albert Einstein who said:
"I do not think that it is necessarily the case that science and
religion are natural opposites. In fact, I think that there is a very
close connection between the two. Further, I think that science without
religion is lame and, conversely, that religion without science is
blind. Both are important and should work hand-in-hand."
If believing in God is okay for Albert Einstein, then it's probably
okay for me, too.
