So how to explain these odd formations: if there is a single layer laid
down in the flood, how can we possibly see older and older layers as we
ascend in altitude?
Chris
If we apply the methodology of ID - if there is a methodology of ID - than we
can
divide the possibilities into three exclusive categories:
1. The ordering of the formations is due to natural law, for example, the
geological
explanation. This is excluded by YEC.
2. The ordering is due to pure chance. This is excluded by the extreme
improbability,
and especially by the predictions which make the ordering *specified*.
3. The ordering is due to purposeful design. This means that the designer(s)
.
Or they can be purposefully ordered to have not just the appearance of
great age, but the actual great age. And that past and present species
can have not only the appearance of common descent, but actually share
common ancestors if need be. ID can accommodate it all.
The real crux of "ID methodology" however, is that when such questions
come up, one finds creative ways of evading them.
