In response to the question, why do the vast majority of scientists all

common descent is a non-controversial fact, a YEC replied, "It's
because there's money in it." So, all you money-grubbing scientists
out there, how lucrative is the field anyway?
I've been actively involved in research in vertebrate palaeontology for
ten years.
During that time, my total income from work in that field has been as
follows:
Mary Anning Award: £100
Payment for talk on plesiosaurs: £28
Consultancy for Discovery Channel: £160
Consultancy for BBC: £75
Payment for BBC interview: £50
Donations from web site: £30
Answering questions about Mary Anning: £20
Total: £463
This is for at a conservative estimate 6000 hours of work which works
out at about 8 pence per hour.
As you can understand, I stuggle to find ways of spending all this
stupendous wealth.
