ID otherwise meshes rather well with evolution, if you choose to
believe it, and the pro-evolution camp should (IMHO) not try so hard to

the "official stance", then there will NEVER be any converts, because
it would require them to give up their faith.


You, uh, miss the entire point.

The ID fight isn't about science. It isn't about religion, either.
It's about political power -- who gets it, and what they get to do with
it once they have it. ID is the "wedge" for an openly theocratic
political program, one that would be the death of democracy. The
fundies are ayatollah-wanna-be's. Nothing more, nothing less, nothing
else.

My best friend is from Iran, and has seen firsthand what happens when a
bunch of theocratic nuts are allowed to gain real political power. I
have no intention at all of allowing that to happen here.
