Not too long ago (but long enought that I don't remember just how long

early 1990s, and we had a 150lb cat treed by two puppies.
Oh yeah? How many people got a hog and goose story? A piggery used to
be located next door to me (I was, fortunately, upwind). I happened to
be watching one day when a goose of perhaps 12 pounds walked up to this
sleeping, very large prime storehouse of bacon, hams and ribs, more
than 500 lbs. I'm sure, and gave it a peck on the ear. I expected to
see one very angry porker, but it struggled to its feet as fast as it
could and ran away squealing from the deadly, pork-craving
Tyrannosaurus anser.

Smart pig (redundant, I know). *I've* been chased by a goose. Nsty
buggers.
Ha. I got revenge for you.
The trick is to go north- way north. I spent some time at a field
station in Manitoba banding snow geese. Like all bullies, the little
bastards aren't so tough when they can't get away from you (in this
case, after they molt). Yeah there was the occasional nip or crap in
the beard (and one that latched onto my beard and wouldn't let go until
I about wrung it's neck), but mostly they were just interested in
running.
Of course, being herded by a helicopter may have helped in some cases.
I am in favor of legalizing the individual harvesting of Canadian
geese. Limit the weapons (i.e. no gunfire in city parks, but nets and
ropes are ok) and let people go after the geese. It solves the problem
very nicely.
