This trend has been, for the most part, a good thing. But we have continued

Why a pendulum?

at this point.

The physical is the larger space. We have been puting Religion into a smaller
and smaller box. The God of the Gaps is running out of room. Democratus and
Leucippus were right. They just had no way of showing at the time.

There are no demonstrable gods, ghosts, spooks, spirits or boojums. There is
the physical Kosmos. As Carl Sagan (he of billyuns and billyuns of stuhrs)
used to say: The Kosmos is all there is, ever was or ever will be. Do you feel
sqeezed by something that is fifteen billyun lightyears in diameter? I don't.
The only sqeeze comes from narrowness of mind and imagination. As Haldane said
the Universe is not only stranger than we knew, it is stranger than we -can-
know. There is plenty of room for everyone.

OK, good point. A box is not the best device to explain my thought. Bring in
the Flat Landers. Beings who exist in only two dimensions see their plane as
equally vast as you and Carl see the Universe. It's just very thin.
