The U.S. was (is?) a Christian nation because of the makeup of its
citizens, not because any law declares it to be.
Many of which are members of faiths that, in the Old World, had spent
a good deal of time trying to kill each other off, which is precisely
why the Founding Fathers wanted to create a secular state.
A secular state in that the government would be a direct reflection of
the will of the people, not a tyrant that would force religion on its
subjects like England did.
Indeed, except the will of many within the US is to force religion on
the rest of us. That is where it becomes the government's
responsibility to become a-religious (not the same thing as atheistic).
What kind of people in the United States are you talking about who want
to force their religion on others?
Those people, for instance, which wish to push (or sneak) Creationism
into public school science classes.
Do you not think that it is logically possible to use science to create
a theory that an intelligent being, whatever the form, interceded in
the formation of the universe?

What if the current science shows that it is mathematically improbable
that natural forces created this universe?

But it does not show that. Here is an experiment for you, take 10
decks of cards, leave in the two jokers for each deck giving you 540
cards. Shuffle all 10 decks together as often as you like. List the
cards in their final order. The probablity of that particular order
before you started shuffling was astronomical*, the probablitiy after
you finished shuffling, was 1. See how easy it is to acheive an
incredibly improbable result? Even the result of shuffling a single
deck of cards is far longer odds than most people will accept as
reasonable, yet every time a deck is shuffled, one of those highly
improbably events occurs. Go figure.

Does anybody remember what odds it was Dembski claimed couldn't be beaten by chance?
