So what? Do you think evolution should modify all characters neatly in
proportion, so that we could classify the entire diversity of life
based on just a few characters? Maybe you should ask it nicely.
It doesn't matter if some animals evolve a rotating disco sphere that
sticks out of their ass and plays Barry White tunes - we can base a
classification on that, as long as it's a synapomorphy.
