Do you have any idea how statistically improbable human evolution was?
Before the fact it was astronomically impossible and could not have
happened in trillions and trillions of years. After the fact, the
probability of humans evolving is exactly 1.0000000 (add as many zeros
as you like).
Toss a coin in the 1,000 times air and note each time if it landed on
the face or obverse. Ther probability that you got that sequence is 1.0
(odds equals 1:1). The probability that you can repeat that sequence is
many billions to one against.
Why the *** is this not obvious to Creationists?
To some extent I understand what he's trying to say. It is very unlikely
that a human-type animal would evolve on another planet. However, a quick
recall of more advanced organisms reveals that there are a number that
are pretty damn close to human intelligence. The great apes come to mind,
as to cetaceans. So we've managed to have a number of species evolve
rather sophisticated intellectual skills on this planet, so the odds may
not be as bad as UC seems to think.
