Universes could just be things that happen from time to time.
It would be a convenient explanation for the near-infinite complexity
and entropy of the singularity. But, let's be honest. Is such an
explanation more wishful thinking or more driven by scientific
discovery?
At least there is scientific evidence for the Big Bang. When will we
see any for "goddidit"?

Bob.
The evidence that this universe and life in it couldn't have
statistically happened on its own IS indeed evidence that
something/Someone more powerful than the cosmos made it happen.
There is no such evidence. Your argument is entirely circular.
Mark
Oh, I forgot about the new scientific idea that matter and energy (even
time and space) can pop into existence without cause and without those
nagging principles of physics like entropy. How convenient.
It is astoundingly arrogant of you to try this. You don't know the
material and you are making fun of those who actually do. All you have
is an argument from incredulity, but just because you don't understand
does not make it false. If you have a better explanation for the
observations then present it.
I am not intending to make fun of anyone. My response was more out of
exasperation than anything. It all stemmed from others in this forum
demanding physical evidence which is testable by science before even
allowing the possibility that the Bible might be accurate. The Bible
would have to stand up against every known law of nature. Then, when
discussing science's responses to the implications of the natural
theories of the origins of the universe, quantum theory allows the
possible dismissal of all those laws at all the problematic points
along the way. See what I am getting at?
Yes, you don't understand the science but you are too arrogant to see
that. Sorry, but there is no dismissal of any, no less all, laws at
any point. People can try to help you learn, but you first have to
understand and accept that you really don't have a clue. You are well
over 100 years behind in the sciences and you don't seem to care.
Don't think that I don't care because I call into question the
assumptions and logical inconsistencies involved with the theoretical
science at hand.
How in the world can you do that when you have never studied the
subject? Can you do enough calculus to understand Newtonian physics?
Can you do the math to understand the Maxwell Equations? Can you deal
with a second year college physics text? More to the point, how do you
justify the arrogance to think you can "call into question" material
you are so ignorant of?
You're wrong about my lack of the study of chemistry, physics, and
math. It really is incomprehensible to you that another learned
individual might just honestly come to a different logical conclusion
about the universe, isn't it?
Anyway...I can do enough calculus (and more advanced theoretical math)
to handle Newtonian physics and the like. Second year physics texts?
Been there, done that. It was easy compared to the 5th year
theoretical math where I swear that the professor was making it up as
he went along.
Finally, it's not ignorance. I'm just asking questions. The bottom
line here is I will demand more than theoretical math on a blackboard
if it demands that I relinquish some closely held religious beliefs.
Coming to different conclusions based on the same evidence is a way of
life. No need to get bent out of shape.
Sir, if you cannot handle these kinds of discussions here, how ever
will you be able to teach students who have paid great sums of money to
be taught by you?
In the real world I would ask you to show your math. Can you?
Math for what? God's existence? Can't do it, pal. All I can do is
work with the math that proponents of the Big Bang, abiogenesis, and
evolution use. All I have to do is to show that their own math breaks
down and cannot support their initial theories...thus pointing to some
other alternative.
(I am assuming that you either teach now or will one day be a
professor.)
Thanks.
