<Snip-Young-Earth Creationism>
So coming back to the intelligent design debate. Basically, what you
have is a group of religious fundamentalists who simply cannot accept
that a given passage of the bible is not literally true. From their
perspective, the Bible is either absolutely 100% correct, or it's 100%
wrong. Apart from being a demonstration of unfathomably weak faith, in
my opinion; this is also the type of very dangerous thinking that leads
to things like crusades, Holocausts and 9/11s.
Intelligent Design had nothing to do with God or the Bible. It's
critics were Creationists and Evolutionists. They jointly condemned ID
research for differing reasons, mostly because ID challenges both
concepts to some degree. Through Judge Jones court ruling and Dembski's
ouster from the Discovery Institute, the research has now been
suppressed. Comparing Dembski to Darwin, it would be like suppressing
the manuscript of "Origin of Species" in 1855 from ever being published
or comparing ID to the Bible, suppressing the King James Version from
ever being published. They don't burn books, anymore... when they
agree, Creationists and Evolutionists just destroy ideas that don't fit
in their world view.
