Intriguing new concept regarding human origins



Some years ago I read a book, "Gaia, a new look at life on Earth", by
Prof. J Lovelock. In it he drew attention to the way life itself
appears to be keeping our planet in a habitable state. It immediately
struck me how the things he was describing would be much easier to
understand if there was some kind of intelligence controlling what was
going on. Rather than dismissing this idea out of hand, I found myself
asking, "Is there any way intelligent life could be present without us
knowing about it". After pondering on this for some time, I thought of
a possible way in which intelligent life could be here, almost
literally right under our noses, without us necessarily being aware of
it. Furthermore, I could see a way in which we, the human race, could
perform a task of great significance to the future of our planet. This
begs the question: were we deliberately created in order to perform
