There's a perceived tendency for engineers to be creationists, or at
least for educated creationists to be engineers:

But my observations about people in computer science, information
technology, etc. agrees with yours, both in school and in the
workplace. But it's not obvious why "we" would be different from
"them". Presumably chemical and mechanical engineers are called upon
to think critically now and then...
