You label it a "parody" simply to avoid the issue. What about it can
you possibly misconstrue as "parody"???

No, no, they're not trying to avoid the issue, neighbor. I asure you.
It's just that they weren't raised fundamentalist, and you appear over
the top to sane minds.

Having been raised Southern Baptist some <mumble> years ago, I
understand that you really can't be over the top and a sincere biblical
literalist. You are delusional, of course, but we *are a social
species, and for those of you who live in an insular society (probably
most of your friends - certainly all the ones you talk to about these
things - are fellow fundies), the peer pressure is intense. You believe
many things contrary to reality. You worship an image of a god in your
mind, more durable than stone and more heartless than iron. You believe
that the commands of Jesus are optional (Have you given up all wealth?
Do you stop all work on Saturday? Do you eschew violence, even in
self-defense? Do you treat children as you would Jesus? Do you love
everyone - even tax collectors?), yet you believe the commands of Paul
of Tarsus are immutable (Women shouldn't preach. Gays are an
abomination.).

We're just not interested. And a quarter, perhaps half, of us are
already Christian or other believers. It's just that the believers do
not believe a creator God would plant false evidence, so any data the
universe provides us leads to a truthful way of understanding the
mechanics of it all. There are other aspects to life, of course, and
some find those needs satisfied with a religious path. But we know that
humans are fallible - science teaches humility - and any religious
understanding may be confused in small or large matters.

When someone like you says "God said this, and it's clear what he
means, and he never lies", what you are *really saying is "*I am right,
and infallible". So if you have made a mistake in understanding, there
is no chance of your growing or learning. Tsk. Sad. Worse than sad;
you can't leave well enough alone.

Why did you even start this thread?
