A recent issue (Winter 2005) of _Parabola_ is devoted to the topic of
fundamentalism. Its articles can give a little insight into how
fundamentalism arises, what its effects are, and how to deal with it.
A couple of the articles looked to me like uninformed speculation, but
the interview with Houston Smith alone is (IMHO) worth the price of
the magaize.
Parabola, subtitled "the search for meaning", is a magazine that
covers spiritual issues from multicultural perspectives, including
ancient myths and essays from modern writers. Each issue is dedicated
to one subject. See www.parabola.com to see how they describe
themselves.
Is that link correct? I get a site that looks like cybersquatters
hawking home equity loans, etc.
Sorry. www.parabola.org
As usual, my reading is procratinatory. That particular issue will
not be on newsstands much longer, if it is still there at all. My
bookstore still had it as of last Sunday, but the magazine cover says,
"please display until January 31, 2006." Keep an eye out for it.
