Re: Are *your* posts rated yet? (A google group thing)

Google Groups, er..., that's Google *Beta* groups,
has just introduced a one star to five star clickable
thing on each post in the newsgroups, including here.

It seems to have done so at the cost of the message
number in the thread, making it harder to tell which post
you are looking at, but - hey! - we each get to rate every
post made in this group. What fun. (Play fair, guys.)

To test it, I just rated A. Carlson's post in the Transitional
Fossils Micro v. Macro thread (currently at position #15 in
the thread) as a "4 star" post (above average) and even
looked at his "profile" - listing recent posts to different
threads.... it even lists the number of posts per month
for the last two years! (Gee, he's been busy, almost
reaching 200 posts last Oct. - nearly 1300 in total.)

So - we can eliminate the need for votes for PoTM and
just let Google Beta Groups pick the winners for us, OK?

(I do wish they would keep the position number there.)

I wonder if Ray M. or Gerard can write a post that gets
rated over two stars.

I wonder when Google Gamma Groups will be out - by
then they should be able to rate puns, too.

Go help us if they release Google Grammar Groups. I'll be in all kinds of trouble.

Now I have to ask if you have "Go help us..." when you intended
"God help us....", or in effect a single character deletion typo.

Is that so? (Now we need Google Typo Groups, too.)

Of course, maybe you did mean "go". They might say that
in Melbourne. Or it could be a way of indicating - but not
saying - "God". But I think it is just your finger brushing over
the key and not quite hitting it. Of course, the *other* way
to look at it is that you let the typo happen *ID fashion* to
prove the point that a gamma/grammer Google Group typo
fixing version is needed.

(I think that that just shows the problem ID has in explaining
why we know what we do and how hard it is to read design
into the picture. Did Dr. Wilkins "design" the typo to prove
his point, however subconscious that act may have been?)
