How do you know Moses could write? What language were they written in?
Why was it necessary for them to be rewitten about 650 years BC?
Moses was a prince of Egypt and probably as well educated as any
Egyptian royalty is.
Bob Kolker
He does not appear in any Egyptian list of royal figures.
That's not exactly proof. There was another Egyptian ruler whose name was erased
from all the monuments. What was his name? I forget. They were pissed off at him
for teaching a monotheistic form of the Egyptian religion ... which apparently
had a great influence on Israeli theology for generations to come.
Ankhnaten, but we do know of him from the many intact inscriptions. However,
we don't know the names of most of the royal houses of any period. Only the
king got the press, for some reason :-)
Ok the, changing tack, there is no evidence for jewish slavery in
Egypt.
Tax evasion. You got taxed for every Jewish slave, so nobody reported having
any. Instead they made up these extensive lists about which free men from
which village worked on the pyramids out of a sense of honour and duty...
As I understand it the work on the pyramids was effectively the tax. The
men were free, but weren't volunteers either, much like the old tenancy
arrangements in England where the tenant farmer had to work a certain
amount of time on the landlords' acreage.
