I don't know if there is actually more mental illness (in the US at least)
but certainly more people are diagnosed as mentally ill. I am too lazy to
provide cites, but last I heard diagnosis of things like schizophrenia
have about doubled in just the last 20 years. Could be more people seeking
treatment. Could be drug companies encouraging diagnosis to sell drugs.
Could be the drugs themselves. Who knows.
