Where the wind comes streaming from the mouth...
I suppose Timberwoof has seen the news item from Oklahoma,
where a nationally prominent froth-at-the-mouth anti-gay
Southern Baptist official and minister has been charged with
propositioning a (male) police officer for oral sex. I guess
it all depends on what "sex" is, and what "is" is, doesn't it?
I suppose such people deserve (as has been urged by a number
of GLBT spokesfolks) pity -- but when one tries to discharge
personal demons by spreading hatred for what one is afraid to
face himself, and does this in the Name of Christ, and from a
position of major influence in a posturing, self-important
bunch of intolerant and ill-educated money-grubbing and self-
serving "pastors", I'm afraid that my main response is contempt.
This is also the locus of Creationism, which I think deserves
the same response. For much the same reasons.
Yes, I am _not_ being "nice" and "Christian" in saying this.
I am human, and have seen too many of my kind mangled by these
vicious, and un-Christian, morons. Who should just _shut up_
and take their smarmy and ill-considered religion back into
the closet it belongs in. Maybe if they meditate a while, or
even pray (as opposed to holding self-serving conversations
with themselves) a bit, they will begin to understand why the
"Great Commandment" holds "love your neighbors as yourselves"
to be equal to "love God with your whole heart, and your whole
_mind_ [Creationists, please note!], and your whole strength."
