Perhaps you should ask *yourself this - if he is correct, or merely
believes he is correct, then how could he have possibly presented this
observation in a less annoying way? Maybe you are bothered by the
message more than the delivery. If so, then imagine how you would
receive a book that insists you are deceiving yourself on important and
observable issues, and motivated by fear or similar unadmirable
emotion.
