Minor point. A ribosome is a complex of proteins *and* two ribosomal
RNAs. The proteins self-assemble on the two rRNAs (ribosomal RNAs) and
*assist* the rRNAs in directing translation of the mRNA. Ribosomes are
actually at base a ribozyme; the rRNA itself, without proteins, has
some function. This is part of the evidence supporting the idea of an
RNA world.
