Nope. Convergent evolution. Similar forms are dictated by the physics of light
and the chemistry and ontogeny of cells.

As it happens, any form that would be intermediate between a light spot and a
fully formed mobile eyeball exists somewhere *now*. And they are all useful
eyes to those organisms.
