Well, in O'Reilly's case, I think his ratings (and thus his pandering
to his rabid fans) takes precedence over his 'cause'. They want red
meat, and he gives it to them. If he looks like a clueless dumbass to
non-viewers, I doubt he gives a shit, as long as Murdoch keeps signing
his paycheck. It's for the same reason that Limbaugh intersperses his
rants with demonstrably false nonsense - the wingnuts love it.
