Y'know, I don't think I've seen this scam in the socialist version
before now. Usually it's about "YOU can make $$$$$$$$!!!" Not "here's
how /everyone/ gets rich." For one thing, most people do get it that
if everyone suddenly gets rich then that's only inflation.

So no socialism... at least, in the unsolicited e-mail or usenet
versions. In "bricks and mortar" Ponzi schemes, socialism does arise;
one was called Women Empowering Women, which I think might also be a
legitimate enterprise's name elsewhere.

And... if anyone has any idea at all about spam, then ninety-nine point
nine per cent of the junk e-mail I now see is stuff that you wouldn't
fall for for a second. So the only possible market can be people who
have never heard of spam, and this is the first one that they see.

This strengthens my belief that new e-mail users should all have to
pass a course in What Is Spam? before they are allowed on the network,
and then it will wither and die.
