It's true that atheists would like to see believers come to their
senses, but "spreading atheism"? No. We don't proselytize. Even if we
did, atheism would be a hard sell.
Given most people's fear of their own mortality, it's easier to sell
them a bill of goods, no matter how outrageous - as long as you
include eternal life as part of the package - than it is to get them
to accept the truth.
The most important claim of religion in the minds of believers - the
main selling point, if you will - is that it offers the believer an
escape from death. Never mind that believers can present no evidence
to justify their belief. The promise of immortality is too compelling.
The belief alone is sufficient. Atheism, on the other hand, offers
only the cold, hard facts. Most people aren't interested.
