.....quote, snipped - " but no shining Star guiding
wise men, no Mother Mary and certainly no little Jesus in a manger or
anywhere else. But it's a nice story." end quote
The shining star, witnessed only by the wise men (astrologers)
is contained (opinion) in an ancient astrological chart. This is why
the "star" was seen only by the highly advanced astronomer/astrologer
priests called The Persian Magi. These people were linked to the
builders of The Great Pyramid which is an astounding
astronomical/astrological monument dedicated to the astronomy of the
sun and the entire solar system. (A Wonder of The World).
The star (IMO) can be seen (chart) at:

The "Virgin" birth is linked to astrology and the astrological sign of
"The Virgin" (some astronomical knowledge of The Precession of the
Equinox is helpful here). The "birth" of Christ is a spiritual birth
that (can) happen within the human consciousness. It is not a physical
reproductive act. The "manger" is a metaphor for the human "animal"
(compared to spirit) and its base tendencies (conflict, survival,
deception, sexual cravings, and carnal cravings generally).
In a metaphysical context there is a distinction between Jesus, the
man, and Christ, the indwelling spirit that can and often is dormant
beneath the (sometimes) overpowering human ego. The Last Supper is a
metaphor of the indwelling spirit (Man's higher nature) gradually
"devouring" (replacing) the animal ego to return to Man's original form
which is, according to the teachings, a spiritual being independent of
a physical form. In order to begin the process of this transmutation
one must first "give birth" to (discover) his or her inner spirit or
soul. It is a "virginAL" birth because it does not require a sexual act
but, rather, a spiritual intent.
I am not stating that this information is true. It is, bever-the-less,
the underpinnings of the teachings.
