Worng.
If the universe is defined as the set of everything that exists,
then there is nothing ``outside'' of the universe. The only
``non-physical'' things I'm aware of are things like logic and
mathematics; by themselves, they're completely incapable of doing
anything at all, and completely powerless to bring the physical
universe into being. And there is no reason whatsoever why the
universe needs a cause in the first place; it is perfectly enough
that it simply is.
