Andy comments:

I am going to chime in on this one...

The training of medical doctors in the countries I mentioned do
meet our standards and these doctors have no trouble in getting
certified

**** This is absolutely true..... We have personal experience with
foreign doctors, certified in the US, but don't speak understandable
English.... Their qualifications as a DOCTOR are excellent.... their
qualifications as a linguist need some schooling.... So, while I don't
know what the hell they said, we got treated, and competently....

So have I. The doctor said the operation was a success but the patient, my Mother, didn't co-operate and died.

And so what would you do with all those "insurance people" that you
want to put out of work? And, whatever it was that you did to earn
your living, would you have done it if the government would have
capped your income and told you who your customers could be?

**** Same as anyone else would do when made "obsolete" by lack
of saleable skills .... Get retrained, and get another job...

Isn't that communistic? Shutting down one industry and telling the people involved to be retrained? Sounds a lot like North Korea.

IT IS A DOCUMENTED FACT that the US pays more for health care as
percentage of our gross national product than any civilized country
in the world.

***** And our doctors and hospitals have the highest profit margin of
any country in the world, civilized or otherwise..

Ask some of the doctors in Eureka about that.

IT IS A FACT THAT- the US has more people who have no health care
except through charity and emergency than any civilized country in
the world.

****** And no one is refused health care in the US due to an inablilty
to pay..... see the Medicaid rules..... They may take everything you
have to pay for it, but you will get treatment....

See how communistic that is. The government giveth and the government taketh away.

It's also a fact that hundreds of thousands choose to not purchase
healthcare insurance. But you want to make this a communistic country
by MAKING PEOPLE BUY STUFF THEY DON'T WANT????

***** Those who DON'T BUY INSURANCE are treated... by law... and the
taxpayers and people who DO BUY INSURANCE have to pick up the
tab for them.....
Consider it the same as automobile insurance and homeowners
insurance.
EXCEPT, if your house burns down, and you don't have insurance, you
are
the only one affected..... If your brakes fail, and you turn a gagle
of
Catholic school girls into quadraplegics, ...... what happens.... who
takes care of the expenses ??????

That's another thing. They should do away with liability insurance. You buy your own insurance to cover all the risks you face. Put the trial lawyers out of business and they can retrain for another career.

IT IS A FACT THAT-despite all the money the people of the US lay out
for health care, our death rates, infant mortality rates, life
expectancy rates are below those of any civilized country.

**** Most of that is about choices in life style.... not lack of
medical
treatment.......

And you think the federal government will do a better job. Explain to
me how having the government pay for your healthcare will improve ANY
of those statistics.

**** This is the easiest. Medicare is doing a very good job, much
better
than private insurance........

Which one of those statistics has it improved?

Problem is, Medicare doesn't give
enough
profit to doctors to maximize their lifestyle, and the AMA therefore
will
oppose it....... The proposal , a few years ago, to make Medicare
available
to those 62 and higher, IF THEY PAID THE ENTIRE PREMIUM THEMSELVES,
was resoundly defeated...... since it meant that doctors and hospitals
would
no long have the ability to bankrupt Seniors by inflated charges.....

IT IS A FACT THAT THE MEDICAL PROFESSION in every other civilized
country in world has no problem working with a system of universal
coverage and single payers. There are no mass migrations of
professionals from countries like the Gr. Britain, France, Germany,
Belgium, Holland, to the US.

Have you ever talked to one of those medical professionals? How do
you
know it is a fact?

**** Most of us have never talked politcs to George Bush either....
yet,
somehow, we KNOW it would be a waste of our time...

IT IS A FACT THAT while there are problems with health delivery in
these countries (a.go. waiting time for non-emergency procedures)
there are no great outcries or protests and no political party,
conservative or communist, or liberal) advocates the abandonment of
universal health care and( where it exists) a single payer system.

*** It could be argued that "dead men tell no tales".... However, if
those
countries had as many lawyers as we do in the US, there would probably
be a LOT of people trying to sue the government....... Our laws need
to be adjusted if we are to compare this on a level playing field.

There were no protests against Sadaam, Castro, Ho Chi Minh, Stalin or
many others that provided universal health care. North Korea has it,
maybe you would be happier there.

**** Actually, they had to wall off their country to keep people from
pouring out.....

I. Is the rest of the world communist or crazy?

**** Half of it is communist... the other half is crazy...... Don't
stereotype !! :>)))

I don't know. Maybe they just have a bunch of suckers bamboozled.

Now, when are you going to answer my question? Whatever it was that
you did to earn your living,
would you have done it if the government would have capped your
income
and
told you who your customers could be?

***** Actually, they sorta do that to people they send to prison for
financial
misconduct..... A lot of the health insurance providers are actually
doing
criminal activity in collecting premiums and not approving care....
Lots and
lots of suing going on..... and I am curious about just "why" there
are no
criminal actions against people who have to pay millions in civil
court.....
It's a puzzlement.... Could the AMA lobby have something to do with
that ??

Enough..... I have heard both sides, and am convince
that a
system like Medicare would be better if EVERYONE could buy into it.
Maybe voluntary at first, but evolving into a compulsory system
later......

Andy in Eureka, Texas

Everybody would not "buy into it".
