I have taken it for over a year and just had a complete blood
test run and no problem. The drug raises good cholesterol
but does not lower the "bad". I believe you said you took
red yeast -- that is a statin you know. People who have bad
reactions to statin drugs probably should not take it.
I've been taking it for over two years with no problems.
It must work differently on a molecular level.
Following a vegan diet and no salt or sugar would most
probably make us all more healthy. Seventh Day Adventists
who strictly follow a vegan eating plan are among the
Americans with the best health.
I've read that we should eat nothing white except for cauliflower,
egg whites and radishes. I'm a salt hound and eat white
potatoes regularly, so that leaves me well out of the health
conscious crowd.
I spent a week once at an Adventist vacation place and the
food was scrumptious -- no dairy, no meat or fish. But the
meals were varied and soy cheese was used on pizzas and
Mexican dishes. I could not tell the difference. Home
baked whole wheat bread and all sorts of delicious nut
butters to spread on it. I'd like to get close to that
regime but would have to set my mind on it and do a lot more
cooking and baking from scratch than I do now. It might be
fun to give it a trial run for a month or two. I like soy
milk OK as a substitute on cereals and such. But not in
my coffee -- I'd have to cheat on that. Hmmmm, maybe I'll
work out a menu plan and give it a try.

I frequently visited a friend in an Adventist hospital and the
food there, as well as in their cafeteria was very good.

If I could afford a full time cook, eating that way would be no
problem. Can't begin to think how they make that meatless
meat loaf.

You can buy bags of vegetarian burger crumbles -- I have used
them in chili instead of ground meat. If seasoned properly
hard to tell the difference. They are found in the frozen
food sections. There are vegetarian patties as well called
Boca burgers in different flavors and you eat them on a bun
like a hamburger. I like the cheeseburger flavor and with
thin slices of red onion, catsup and Dijon mustard they are
quite satisfying.

There are Boca burgers in my freezer right now.
Sadly, they were rejected by my entire meat loving crew -
including cats and dogs.
My oldest daughter eats little meat and likes them.
But she's damn near a vegetarian.
No milk or wheat.
I love milk and wheat. Concession to fatness is no fat milk.
