Andy - well stated and reasoned - and I agree.
What you left out in evaluating Pres. Bush -most of which I do agree
with - however, is what he did with Iraq.It is a terrible failure, and
was badly mismanaged - and still is - and I am afraid it will - yet
again - escalate, as neighboring countries are making uncomfortable
noises and threats, and incursions,etc., and who knows how this will end
- - which is perhaps why it should have never been started. or, if
started, and deposing Saddam - which I favored for reasons I often
posted - but it is at that point, we ought to have left that country - -
so they can murder one another without our help, and so we would not
lose thousands of our own boys - for what??? In fact the situation is
getting more complex by the minute, and also more threatening - and the
world blames Bush for whatever might happen now in the Middle East.
But, I do agree with you on the other matters, which you described.
