You can download many versions of the Bible as an EBook free from
the web at the Guggenheim Project website.

Thank you, it seems the King James is the most popular. I think I
would rather start with the new testament. I've been told some of the
books were cut out way back in time. I don't want to get into this too
much, as I'm so anti-organized-religion the reading would probably
anger me in some parts.
I've also been told the books were not written until several decades
later so just how accurate any quotes may be is questionable.
If I "see the light" and start proselytizing someone come to my home
and slap me.
Nantz
I'll be the first, Nantz! Not only are there missing books, but the actual
accounts of the gospels differ in so many places. They got together
hundreds of years later at the council of nicea and did an editing job so a
diverse collection of writings would at least be somewhat in sync. But in
the process they cut out some of the most interesting and maybe even
inspiring bits. There are some genuinely inspiring parts, like the
sermon on the mount, and a few other bits, but remember that most of the
letters of Paul were written by a man who never even knew Jesus, and who was
deeply prejudiced against women. Almost all of what I consider to be wrong
with Christianity comes from the letters of Paul. Modern Christianity
ought to be called "Paulianity" since that is where its strongest influence
comes from. I'd skip revelations altogether, the whole thing is just a
chaotic bad acid trip that makes no sense whatsoever.
I am no fan of Paul either -- for Nantz' understanding he wrote most
of the books that are called "The Epistles", i.e. letters from Paul to
the early Christian flocks. He is the one who developed the complex
theology. Paul was a persecutor of the Christians until he had some
kind of fit (epilectic?) and had a vision of Jesus saying to him,
"Paul, Paul, why do you persecute me." After that he traveled widely
through the ancient world and wrote letters to the various Christian
congregations supplementing what is in the four Gospels.
The only reason I can see for dipping into Revelations is that this
book inspires many of the real nutcases who predict the end of the
world and other horrors.
They are always waaaayyyyy too willing to get into hair-splitting discussions on the meaning of it and talk about their doomsday scenarios. Since I don't have much involvement with those nutcases, I will leave them and their book of psychedelic delusions, both alone.
