Please provide access to better telephones that are cordless telephones at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital Geriatric Care Services.

Cordless telephones are needed at this time, now, today without further delay that can be more easily handled by Lemuel Shattuck Hospital Geriatric Care Services patients confined to bed.

.. Patients do not have bedside telephones at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital Geriatric Care Services.

.. Telephone calls are diverted or discouraged by the Geriatric Care Services set up isolating the patients confined to bed.

.. Isolated from families and friends calls, it is to the detriment of patients' care, patients' healing and patients' recovery.

.. Resulting in longer hospital stays, this isolationg of patients confined to bed from keeping in contact by telephone with families and friends discourages patients and affects recovery.

.. Cellphones handsets are difficult for patients to adjust.

.. Dropouts of the cellphones signals interfere with conversations.

.. Cellphones have weak signals in that location in the building.

.. Relaying call back messages appears to be inconvenient or perturb some people at the 5 South desk by interfering with staff activities.

.. Apparently, the set up is inefficient and takes away from effective activities of personnel.

.. Cordless telephones use a landline.

.. Cordless telephones have better audio quality for Geriatric Care Services patients.

In 2007 assistive technologies are readily available for patients with disabilities to communicate more effectively.

Advocate for changing the organizational culture of Geriatric Care Services and improving LSH !
