That's one of the reasons I want to get off ketoprophen (almost the same
as
ibuprophen). They are all what they call Non Steroid Anti-Inflammatory
Drugs (NSAIDS). They're quite good but the longer one take these things
the more prone to bad side effects we become.

I quiting unless I hear, or read, something that changes my mind in the
next
week.

You can NEVER expect a doctor to take you off ANY meds as long as you're
breathing.........
They only pile on more to try to remedy the side effects of the ones you
are
now taking. I think all the bastards work for the pharmacuetical
companies....... (I hope my doc doesn't monitor this newsgroup !!!! )

Its been 30 years ago and I was still in the military. I was building
a redwood fence around my back yard and all that hammering of the
nails gave me the equivalent of a Tennis Elbow. It was severe enough
to cause me considerable discomfort and I went to see the military
doctor.
At that military hospital it was standard practice to take the
patients blood pressure on each visit. The doctor prescribed
Ibuprofen and then I started a series of follow-up appointments.

After several of these follow-ups that doctor said I had high blood
pressure and wanted to prescribe a blood pressure medicine.
I told him that the Ibuprofen was causing the high blood pressure.
He would not hear of that at all. (Imagine a patient telling the
DOCTOR what the problem was!!!)

Well, on my own I discontinued taking the Ibuprofen. On my next visit
the doctor said your blood pressure is back to normal now. I told him
"Of Course, I quit taking the Ibuprofen" "That's what was causing the
HBP" . The doctor became quite indignant and said
That's not what the PHD says". I responded that he was missing a
great opportunity if he did not try to take measures to get the PDR
changed and be recognized for this action. It went downhill after
that.

Apparently the medical experts now recognize that Ibuprofen can cause
high blood pressure. Following is link to that effect.

Yep. Guess that's the reason they call it "practicing" medicine !!!!

I'll be the first to admit that medical science is the only reason I'm still
around today
(big time heart surgery in 1984). But, at the same time I recognize that
it is far from a precise science and that completely different
"Authoritative" opinions can be found on almost any facet of human health.

In particular I've found that human diet and nutrition, and the
professionals that practice such, are about the most changing, vague,
nebulous subjects that one can find anywhere. I've almost come to the
conclusion that a person should eat what they enjoy and let the chips fall
where they may.

One thing I'm sure of regarding my own personal situation is that eating too
much is just not good. Lugging around 40 to 60 pounds of uneeded fat all
day can cause life to be not worth living. But, that's just me--- some
live long enjoyable lives with a lot of fat. Maybe it's an individual
matter..........
