I think you would feel different if you were black. Not all blacks use that
kind of language and a lot of black women would be upset at being called
ho's.

Exactly. A 'ho' is a whore.
If someone calls any woman a whore, it would be an insult.

Unless, of course, she actually was one.

Hmmmmm. What do you call men who patronize prostitutes --
is there a similar insulting name for them?

It's called a 'john.' Sorry there isn't a more vulgar word for it, but that's the way it is.

Calling a woman a whore or "ho", is about the worst thing one can
say about one. Yet Imus said that about a group of young black
women, and threw in for seasoning a derogatory term for blacks
"nappy-headed".

Imus was merely repeating speech common in many black communities, used in regular conversation, without the connotations you attach to them. As far as your other comment, such is ALSO a term used in general conversation among blacks without the negative connotation you attach to it as a result of your politically correct guilty conscience.

And you say it was all in jest or satire.

Yes, it was. When such speech and vocabulary are used REGULARLY among the subjects in question, and with NO disparaging connotations attached to such speech, Imus can hardly be rebuked for repeating what is commonly stated.

My comments went to the fact that demagogues like Sharpton don't really give a hoot about how the people he claims to be a spokesperson for speak to each other, but heaven forbid a person not of color to satirize them, why that's a major evidence of whatever. It was brought up that such speech was commonly used in rap music, which targets that community. Only then did Sharpton pay lip service, and grudgingly, I might add, to the fact that such speech was commonly used and accepted. If Sharpton et. al thought it so bad and in such poor taste, why didn't he do something about it years ago? This isn't a new phenomenon. Better yet, what has he done about it RECENTLY. Where is this 'spokesperson' on THIS issue?

Fact remains, he's a deomagogue, but he can depend on your politically correct guilty conscience to overlook these shortcomings. And he depends on that. Maybe you ought to take stock of how you've been duped.

There are
some things that are not the least amusing.

Indeed. But this is not one of them. What happened to Imus is a good example of mob rule and intimidation. Nothing more.

Unless, perhaps, you are
inclined to giggle at that kind of humor?

Absolutely. I don't have to worry about being politically correct. And I seem to recall that you have not responded to why it's bad for Imus to satirize black speech but it's OK for him to satirize The Southern Baptist Conference? You are strangely silent on that.

You seem to be an
expert in making silk purses out of sow's ears, Alan.

Not at all. I am merely pointing out the hypocrisy of political correctness, and its concomitant guilty consciences.
