You write the truth, Robert. However, Religion is only ONE of many
factors
inherent to the human condition. One could say the same for Sexual
Activities, Quests for food, Striving for Wealth, etc., etc., etc. . . .
.
Life is unfair.
Also, it seems to me that these women are trying to take over this
miserable
newsgroup! Do you get that impression ?? The HighMiserableMiles is
their
leader! Like most Atheists she strives to make all around her
miserable;
she has yet to find the "WAY".

Oh how the shoe pinches when it is on the other foot! Women are
not trying to take over the newsgroup but we do feel free to express
our opinions -- without submitting them first to the scrutiny of
a man. If the women here don't appreciate your take on things,
why do you assume the problem is them and not you?

You are the epitome of the patriarchal male personality. So you
whine, "I don't get no respect."- Hide quoted text -

In the 6 or 7 years I've been with this group I don't remember even
one single person agreeing with Nixon. He does tend to use the "royal
we" when in self defence mode, but where is this "we"? If he could
ever come up with just one sincere post, not this Foghorn Leghorn
character bluster and bluff but a real person, it would be a welcome
treat. I can't imagine the man having one real friend in life because
he never says what is in his heart, just what he thinks he should say
in defence of his character. Sad.

Yes. But I am sure you will agree there are far worse characters on usenet
that we see from time to time. McDave is just a little blind,...... some
are real psychopaths with computers.

Oh, certainly, he is just an old guy set in his ways. Not too open to
new thinking. He is harmless compared to the crazies. I think he
sees himself as a courtly gentleman who finds raucus (in his mind)
females annoying.

He finds thinking, articulate females more than annoying.
He seems clearly threatened and behaves badly as a result.
Maybe he used to know women who agreed with him just to keep him quiet
and thought all women should do the same.

Many men in his age category are super sensitive to what they see
as "uppity" women. We see this crap in the newsgroup soc.retirement
all the time. Those who are not deemed sufficiently respectful of
males are pilloried unmercifully. These guys were made very
uncomfortable by the societal changes that have taken place over
the last 40 years. I have pretty well accepted a lot of this is a
generational thing. Those who held all the cards don't like to give
them up. I certainly don't see these attitudes prevalent in my
sons' generation. They are themselves raging feminists compared to
the men my age. Just try discussing a topic like equal employment
opportunity for men and women and you will find women accused of
whining over past injustices. I rather expect their wives "manage"
them as women were taught in the past to do -- to live in anything
approaching harmony they must not directly confront them but find
devious ways to get what they want. That is what women in the past
did and the men never caught on so long as they were not directly
challenged.
