Evelyn - -
= = it seems to me that you (as well as No-Name) are too preoccupied
with demonizing religion in general, with the exception of your belief
in Buddhism. As you may recall,I am an agnostic - have been all my
life, and will die being one!! and - although I am certainly aware of
how much destructive history and deeds have been committed, inthe name
of religion - and that is still on-going (Allah is great!!!! - off with
the head!!!) nevertheless, I do not feel quite the venom which you keep
quoting about religions in general. People - many, if not most - seem to
need that kind of anchor in their lives, and, although many abuses have
been committed throughout history, in the name of religion,
nevertheless, far be it from me to recommend robbing people of their
belief system. That system, at times, leads to terrible acts, and other
times, is the anchor for their lives. So be it; if that is their need -
and if it remains civilized, why rob them of such strength - we who
disbelieve - whether Buddhists or agnostics or whatever else, are not so
superior - we have simply chosen a different credo, and, in the final
analysis - who knows who is right?!

Good comments, Olly.

Only my argument is not against religion, after all everyone has one, even
if they are the only member. My argument is against proselytizing.... I
absolutely abhor the principle itself. It is scammery and victimization
and herd instinct gone wild. I wrote another post explaining that further
in the thread marked "Re: a creationist museum of Unnatural History".... I
hope I was more clear there.

Gee Evelyn, I could have sworn you have been loudly promoting your
system here since you came. It has presence in practically every one
of your posts.

Justine

That would be a misconception. I speak about my own affiliation for the sake of information only. I don't proselytize or tell people what religion they should follow. I speak for myself alone, but I do believe there is a lot of ridiculousness that is widely propagated in the name of religion, especially the fundies variety.
