Yo - LoisGot to disagree. In 50 years we've had 'em ALL. There is nothingI've used electric stoves for years. In fact, I think the last time I
easier, better, cleaner, than the new electric ceramic/glass topped
stove for family cooking. We had one now for 5 years. Love it.
There's just NOTHING to not like about them.

used a gas one was when I was a teen-ager. I have had a glass stove top
for 6 years now and I think it is great. I haven't scratched or dinged
it yet. The great thing about it is ease of cleaning. I am always in a
hurry and with a regular stove I hated having to clean up the messes I
made letting things boil over. With the glass top I just spray on some
cleaner, wait a bit and wipe it off. No lifting up the top to clean
under the burners and trying to clean burned on food from the burner
pans.
Is your top glass or ceramic ?
My son is about to by a seamless top range and is clueless about the
differences.
Can't help him, cause I stuck with the exposed coils.

We've had both. The white ceramic; one of the early ones. And the newer
glass which is a type of glass and is black. The glass is VERY MUCH BETTER,
heats faster, cools faster, and does not take the special care that the
white ceramic required. Tell him to check with an authority before buying
because there IS a great difference.......
He ought to be able to find some sort of a Consumer's Guide here on the net
that would explain the pros and cons on the newer stove-tops.............
