It's not a matter of "Republicans vs. Democrats" nor a matter of "hillbillies vs. cityslumtrash". It's just not that simple. It is the extremely complex matter of regaining our status as a sovereign nation and our politicians acting ONLY in the interests of the citizens (legal citizens) of the U.S. of A. instead of the interests of international corporations, lobbiests, foreign governments, and extremely vocal/local minorities.
McDave ================================================
It is the primary job of each American politician to appear to represent ONLY the interests of the legal citizens; however that is not their real job nor the reason they fought so hard for their office. They spend millions to get elected to a job paying a fraction of what they have spent so that they can attend to special insterests; primarily their own. Sure they will at times vote for some public good if it doesn't interfere with their own interests too much. They will even sponsor bills, even though they may hope some will fail, so that they can publish their "valiant" attempts in their glossy newsletters.
They know they will continue to rake in the residual big bucks even after they have been voted out (or even thrown out) of office.
Those few, in recent times, that have really sworn to represent ONLY the citizens and to make changes for the better in the way things are done in Washington have not fared well in Washington after beating their opponent at the polls. Most have quit in (publicized) disgust after one or two terms.
They get first choice; we get what we get. If things don't go right, the politicians only have to point the finger at the other evil party and claim their good intentions on our behalf while appearing to be virtuous and going about their private interests.
You've got all that right Mike, the problem is, when the system runs well for
the haves, the have nots don't stand a chance of changing things without
an overwhelming effort and people willing to put themselves on the firing
line. There just doesn't seem to be much besides complaining at this
stage though.
Wealth rules.
And that of course goes globally.
