I mostly just lurk on here, but I must state that I'd like to see a
moderated group too, but there are more problems than just
crossposting in this and most other NGs. There are troublesome people
that only human moderation can stop, and I am not referring to someone
that posts an occasional offcolor joke, but rather referring to
repeated harassment. Then of course theres all the usual junk like
spam and people that think newsgroups are places to advertise their
ebay sales, and much more. This NG has turned to almost entirely
politics, and the name should now be soc.politics.senior.issues, and
another moderated group should exist that dont allow any politics. I
like to talk *some* politics too, but there are other things in life
too.
I guess I jsut dont see stopping crossposting as the ultimate
solution. It would greatly help, but is not the end of problems.
Then too, there are somethings posted on here that benifit from
crossposting to another NG. For example home repair posts, being
crossed to alt.home.repair.

However, I strongly favor the MOD group, but think human intervention
will be strongly needed, and it will have t be someone that is
non-partisan, not offended by normal usage of cuss words, and who will
be tolerant of posts that they personally do not like. Yet they will
remove all spam and garbage, and will issue warnings and eventual bans
to repeat abusers. This would probably be the hardest job of all.
