Tipping Anyone?

Merry Posters, et al.;
Several high-toned restaurants in the New York City Rotten Apple are going
to adopt a policy of NO TIPPING ! Instead, they are simply going to add
up your bill and add a service fee of 20 percent. In Europe they do
something similar. It may well catch on and spread a round our nation.
What do you think of that??
I do not like it. I normally tip 15 percent. For exceptional service or
something special I'll go for 20 percent. For poor service or rudeness,
I do not hesitate for one single second to tip -- ZERO(0). AND, TELL THEM
WHY!
That 20 percent stuff takes all options away from the customer.
That is just more of this sickening crap in this so-called "service economy"
we have of taking ALL control away from the customers, never facing them
face to face, shifting as much as possible the tedious tasks involved and
making them waste, literally, hours messing with voice mail recordings, and
NEVER let them talk to anyone above the level of cretin-clerk.
All these goddamned businesses want to do is get your credit card number and
have a computer automatically send in your charges each month !! Thanks
but no thanks; that can lead to errors that could take years to straighten
out.
I'll hunker down and stay home first! I prefer to pay ALL bills with cash
or check.
I've made an exception with this new VONAGE phone outfit(they only accept
cards and auto-billing), and I truly hope I don't live to regret it !!!
Twenty (20) percent "Service Charge", indeed...... Not from ol' DaddyDave
they won't.
