Allen, the people like Crazy Dean, Teddy (Hic) Kennedy and Nasty
Pelosi, (allow me sarcasm) whom you sound like, don't believe that
crap. They are politicians, leaders as it were. They are well aware
that in order to "lead" they have to be out front. The way to be "out
front" is to adopt extreme positions...."There go my people, I have to
run out ahead...."

In most cases, after a day of such rhetoric, politicos of both sides
laugh about it and are friends. Not always, I remember once that
Leahy, on wanting to "backslap" with the VP, was invited to commit an
unnatural act upon hiself.

I am convinced that such rhetoric is the main reason Democrats are
losing so many elections. The people, most of them, just don't buy it,
and to the extent that the Michael Moores, et. al. are the salient
voices of the party, people are rejecting the message. Of course, the
lack of any constructive suggestions as to alternatives is a factor.

Your absolute conviction in the truth of the extreme views you espouse
is hard to believe. The phrase "useful idiots" comes to mind. Your
absolute belief in your own rectitude is equally disturbing. It was
Cromwell who said, "I beseech you in the bowells of Christ, consider
you might be mistaken."

You are the one with "beliefs". I'm the Agnostic here.

I have often admitted I am wrong. The last time was when Rita proved
that administration spokesmen had used the word "imminent" in reference
to Saddam's threat. I am very much aware that I could be wrong about
much of what I discuss on this ng. If my reservations about the
absolute "TRVTH" of your conviction that Bush is both "evil" and
"massively stupid" represent a "personality cult", so be it. Consider
for a moment. I do not suggest that there have been no mistakes nor
that there might have been better ways to react to muslim extreemism.
I do not contend that Bush is either a paragon of virtue nor that he is
always right. I strongly object to his stance on abortion and on stem
cell research, for instance. I DO object to irrational bloviation to
the effect that he is all that is evil or always wrong. Are you
incapable of seeing the difference????
