Evelyn - is your Father WILLING to go to an assisted living facility??
If he is, sounds like that is, indeed, the right place for him.
I have all of the limitations which you mentioned your Father suffers,
but, where I live, the evening meal is free - for transportation, they
run shuttles, and, under their assisted living (I am - - not yet!!! - in
their assisted living facility, but in a regular apt., but including
some of the services mentioned above) They also would check on him,
daily,etc.
you probably know most of this, and I would hope the family can place
him in such a helpful setting- provided, of course, that he is willing!!
It is costly.
Difficult decisions!!
Olly

Olly he would never even consider it. I shudder to say it, but he is
forcing us to wait for some sort of a disaster before any thing can be done.
It is really an awful situation. Even getting him to take a bath and
change his clothing is a fight.

My sympathies to you and your family, Evelyn. Seems there is no
solution until he has to be carted off, totally unable to care for
himself. I expect, though, you find his situation far more troubling
than he does. If he doesn't mind the dirt and disorder, why upset
yourself unduly?

You are right. I keep a clean house, so does my brother and sister. We all shower regularly and take care of ourselves. It does bother us more than it bothers him. He keeps asking for me to come and stay there for a few days, but you wouldn't touch anything in that place without a bottle of clorox in your hand to wipe it down first.
