Evelyn -it was YOU who talked, at one point, so much about MSNBC and a
couple of anchors on that station- and how enthused you were about
him/her. I do not get that station.
I asked you whether you watched Anderson on CNN and Smith on Fox. and,
you wrote:"I am busy with real life quite a lot".
Well - I used to be - also - but when the body gets old, and one is
forced to be at home almost 99% of the days - then T.V. takes on a
very
different resource - and a link to the world.
It is a poor substitute for "real life" as you posted - but,
apparrntly
you DO watch enough of Fox, for instance, to hate it!!
I do not go by "network' - I go by the individual personalities.
Anyway - this is unimportant.

Shep Smith on Fox is what the rest of Fox is not. I've had a soft
spot in my heart for him since Hurricane Katrina when arguably
he did the finest job of reporting the lack of assistance from FEMA.

MSNBC in its news coverage during the day presents a far more
diverse showcase of those for and against various proposals and lets
them speak for themselves. The pundits on CNN news strike me as
very mediocre.

MSNBC is known as a "liberal" network and is so far as its
commentators with their own programs. But their general news
coverage gives ample time to both sides and I think that is
extremely important to hear the views from the people who hold
them and not through the lens of some pundit.

You may be surprised, Olly, to learn that I read half a dozen or
more websites on the right everyday. I want to know what they are
saying, the rationale for their views.

Some of them I read are Red State, Freedom Works, and Town Hall.
They are all very far to the right and they are typical of the people
who support the teaparty movement and the GOP "purity" pledge.

How do you stand it! You are devoted to your cause Rita..... I
couldn't stand reading more than a few minutes without gagging.

It's a tough job, but somebodies gotta do it!

It is less disturbing to read their websites than to watch and
listen to Limbaugh and Glenn Beck via video.

Seriously, I do think it important to pay attention to these types
because although they are not the majority -- yet -- they do have
a loyal audience who will follow them like lemmngs into the sea
of extremism. They remind me of the "Know Nothing" movement
in years past.

I realize it is important, and I am most grateful to you for staying in the
know.
But I know I couldn't stand for that sort of ignorance or those people at
all.
The small doses I get when one of the MSNBC hosts plays a clip is bad enough
:-)

I don't think they are ignorant. I think they are just out and out
liars. The people who follow them are ignorant.

I lost it the other day when a casual acquaintance started spouting
stuff from Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh. I finally just told him that
if he believes those liars then he's too ignorant to have a
conversation with me.
Thumper

Thumper you are probably right, but if you say it in that way, you become like them. Notice there isn't a rightie around here that can have a real conversation about any of the real issues. They get mad and turn nasty right away.
