with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association
to put $50 billion toward a reform bill and $30 billion to defray
drug costs for senior citizens.

The Senate Finance chairman has been pressuring hospitals
and insurers to follow the lead of the pharmaceutical industry
and step up with savings to help pay for the $1 trillion health care
package. He has reminded the six major health groups, including
the American Hospital Association, of their May pledge to find
$2 trillion in savings over the next 10 years. -snip-

This is a really healthy sign.

More healthy for the health 'insurance' corporations than the
rest of us, if it turns out to be typical of the kind of deal the
health 'insurance' industry rigs for itself. Nothing in this plan is
Christian charity on their part. Notice the phrase "_as much as_ $160
billion". The White House and everyone else in the country knows that
their stingy, rationed, profit-crippled medical system can't compete.
Nine-tenths of the nation would instantly switch to a public plan,
so if they want to keep some form of their rigged current sickness-
profits system, they'd better help finance the golden goose or be left
behind by REAL health care.
