I extend my sympathies to his fans, family and the folks in the White
House.

Once again, no class.....pure Georgia cracker political ***. Did you
have
to? Did you have to use his death as a political joke? I guess we have
to
consider the source. Like I said....no class!

Hal

OK, OK. I apologize. You're right. I should not joke about it.
Actually his death took me by surprise -- and I couldn't think of
anything serious to say. I really didn't expect him to die. I
can't say I was a great fan of Michael's, but I didn't detest him as
much as many people did.

I was never one of his fans........ great, partial or indifferent. He was
a
pederast and I despised him for what he did with children, which is why I
chose to say nothing. Surely you can remember your Mama telling you that
if
you can't say something good about somebody, say nothing. I remembered it
an acted accordingly.

He was an American original. I still can't figure out how the did
that "moon walk".

But let's be honest. Had I not mentioned the White House, you would
have thought my original post was quite nice.

Yup.

Hal

From what I am learning on TV Michael Jackson from when he was a
young child never had a chance for a "normal life". I never
followed his music and so my interest in him has never been at
all high. That doesn't excuse his peculiar (at best) fascination
for young boys.

He may have been important enough in the music line to garner the
attention he is getting upon his death, but he seems to me to have
been a tortured human being. I think much of the media attention
comes from his many weirdnesses.

Hi Rita,

I cannot imagine that he is/was important enough to warrant non stop
coverage for the last 12 plus hours since he passed away. It is despicable
to me to imagine all the news outlets need to cover this story with
saturation coverage. I missed the Ed Show, Countdown, and Rachael Maddow
too....all pre-empted with continuous coverage of absolutely nothing but.
And it is still getting saturation coverage this morning on almost all the
news stations. Surely there must be other news in the world?

Not from reading this group! All I recall seeing here was scads of
posts about Guv from SC. I posted a couple alternative news items
yesterday just to see if anyone was interested in anything else. Let
me go read your responses to them. ;)

Jackson was a tortured guy but a real genius in putting together a
snappy combination of lyrics, words, and movement. I think he is on
par with Elvis and some of the other greats who shaped particular
styles of musical entertainment. I can recall my dear sister in law
(pretty straight laced Chinese woman) just gushed about Jackson and
she would buzz about humming one of his songs and clearly she was
right there in the groove.

But, sadly, like many who for whatever reason, did not handle fame and
such well. My only regret is he never went to trial for all the kiddy
sex charges. His name should have been cleared for all of history
definitively or he should have went to jail. It still makes my skin
crawl to recall him saying how sweet it was to have milk and cookies
with some preteen boy in their undies. That aspect of the story
should have been resolved.

The guy (may he rest in peace) was a very strange person. He was never
normal from what I can see. He has garnered more publicity in his time than
his impact on the world warranted, and much of it for bad reasons.

I am going venture a guess that the reason he was driving himself so hard at
the age of 50 was because he was $400 million dollars in debt, and that he
was going on this 50 city tour to try and make money before he was really
too, too old. He was also nearly the sole support of the rest of his
family, and though Janet and LaToya made out OK, the rest depended on him.
If it is true, it will surely come out with all the fuss.

I also am going to venture a guess that he was using medications that
contributed to his death. Let us see if the autopsy reveals that I am
right.

I believe his body should be turned over to some medical research
facility to study the effects of lifetime of all the drugs he used.
The stuff he was using to alter his skin color, to all the hormones he
had to have been taking, to drugs for so many rounds of cosmetic
surgery, and who knows what else. Miracle he lasted so long is my
guess.
