Microsoft Money: suddenly canceled after 18 years
http://tinyurl.com/mrb4x2

Microsoft abruptly announced Wednesday it would stop selling its highly
regarded personal finance software, Microsoft Money at the end of the
month.

Since 1991, Microsoft Money has been the one significant competitor with
Intuit's Quicken software. Quicken and Money gave computer users an easy
way to ditch pencil and paper to balance their checkbooks and track their
stock portfolios. The online banking segment of the software industry was
so promising at one point, Microsoft attempted to buy Intuit in a 1995
deal that was scuttled by antitrust regulators.

/snip - read the linked article/
.
Clearly - clearly - Microsoft Money was/is not making enough money for
Microsoft.

[sorry - just couldn't resist....]

Not only do I use Quicken but I left the Dark Side and went to a Mac
rather than use Vista. Microsoft-the company you love to hate (with
reason).

I use Vista. What's to hate?

I use Vista also. Have had few or no problems with it.

For me it was the Vista horror stories I was hearing and reading about. Initially I was looking at an HP laptop with XP Home verses an Apple MacBook Pro and felt that the Apple was rather overpriced. Time passed as I looked into the HP and talked with family about their Apple experiences. A bit more time and I came around to the idea that money on the Apple would be money well spent for the long haul and made the leap from the Dark Side to a new OS. The transition was a scary two weeks ("What have I gone and done???") but it passed.

In my case Vista scared me off to Mac OS X, I just did not want to roll the dice on Vista.
