Has anyone taken Co-Q-10 for the muscle spasms that
statins
cause? For a supplement they are awful damned expensive.
statins you need to notify your doctor. There is a small but
still significant number of people for whom statins cause these
problems and a very few where they result in irreversible liver
damage if continued.
I tried statins twice and had extreme muscle weakness and no

spasms go away that is a pretty good clue the statins caused
them. That was the case with me. I gave them a fair trial.

New York City. No pain when I was resting. It is hard for me to
describe just what it felt like but it was obvious there was
something going on in my leg muscles that was very, very abnormal.
I had lived in New York City for 20 years and walked everywhere
often for miles with no problem.
If you cannot take them your doctor can offer some substitute --
such as meds that raise your HDL (good) cholesterol, exercise
and attention to diet, etc.

I have spinal stenosis which means I have a lot of small spurs
of bone pressing on nerves along my spinal cord. Statins didn't
cause this condition. It began to bother me a couple of years
after I had discontiued statins.
Often, though, it is hard to run down the causes of this type
of ailment. Sometimes just trial and error, I guess.
For 28 years I have lived with daily headaches. They started out
small
and not constant, year by year they became worse until I had constant
headaches with them being intense most of the time. For years, I
tried
everything including chiropractors. Chiropractors helped a little
but
not much.
Finally a couple years ago, my husband called his favorite doctor and
asked for the name of a good neurologist. So off I went, the
neurologist said the diagnosis was a no brainier, but the fix was
trial
and error. Well, 2 years later he had tried everything he knew how
to
do and recommended a neurologist that specialized in headaches. Dr.
Kelman, the headache specialist agreed with the diagnosis and began
his
trial and error fixes, and he said he may not be able to fix it at
all.
Now, about a year and a half later, Dr. Kelman has fixed them so
that
I don't have very many now and they usually go away be themselves.
Excedrin used no more than 3 times a week, gets rid of the rest of
them.
Actually, I may go a couple weeks without any Excedrin at all
I suppose the lesson from your experience is that I should not
give up about my back pain. I'm seeing my regular doc for routine
checkup this week and I'll try my best to get his attention on this
matter.
If he can't do anything about it, ask for recommendations of other
doctors who might
I did see a pain specialist and had two series of shots in my
spine that do work for some, but not for me. I am thinking about
asking about some kind of back brace which could be helpful.
Medicare pays for all but 20%.
Rita, I have a friend with severe back pain. She has had shots too, and
occasionally they will get just the right spot and she is out of pain for
a
long time. Then the next time she gets the shot and it sometimes doesn't
work at all. It is kind of hit and miss, from what I hear.

is having them deaden part of a nerve in her neck. I will investigate
it soon as I have constant nerve pain. I'll try the chiropractor
before I let the surgeons go to work.

Thumper that is what my friend had done. They literally deaden one nerve,
that is *IF* they can find exactly which one to do, and also *IF* they can
get it in the right spot.
